Project Description

This 10-hectare Agroforestry Systems (SAFs) project in the Santa Maria Settlement, Bahia, Brazil; is led by the Grupo Ambiental Natureza Bela in partnership with the Associação dos Produtores Rurais Unidos Venceremos (APRUNVE), with support from FASB. The project is separated in 14 farms and it aims to restore local environmental conditions by prioritizing native species while aligning with community interests. It integrates food production and ecological restoration, strengthening both livelihoods and ecosystem services.

Stakeholders and local communities involved in the project

In the FASB program, local stakeholders are drivers of their own sustainable projects. FASB provides financial and technical support from project conception to completion. For this project, stakeholders are:Natureza Bela Enviromental Group; Association of Rural Producers United We Will Win (APRUNVE)

Project Goals

This project contributes to FASB’s mission of restoring resilient, biodiverse landscapes and promoting sustainable rural development by: - Establishing 10 ha of Agroforestry Systems (SAFs) by planting native seedlings and intercropping food crops such as beans, corn, gherkin, pumpkin, and okra - Distributing personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools to the local association (APRUNVE) and participating families to ensure safe and effective field operations - Formalizing APRUNVE’s service provision and hiring for labor activities.
